Members from the Port of Yamba Historical Society recently visited the Harwood Sugar Mill and Refinery. This was a great opportunity to share current-day workings of the mill with members, in comparison to the information and displays on the early days of the local sugar industry that are housed at the Yamba Museum.

The Yamba Museum is operated by the Port of Yamba Historical Society.

The museum, its displays and collection are evidence of the settlement of Yamba and its strong maritime and agricultural history.

The collection includes objects that highlight the diversity of Yamba’s history, from the telescope once belonging to Francis Freeburn, the first pilot and pioneer in Yamba, to the school room display depicting the historical record of public education in Yamba.

Visitors are invited to make use of the research facilities on offer including the extensive photographic collection, publications available for purchase and the impressive knowledge of the museum volunteer guides.
